About this adventure

Pure camping on the Ganga's bank in Shivpuri — no rapids, no schedule, no pressure. The Camping without Rafting package is exactly what the name says: a night by the river with all meals included, a natural waterfall-fed swimming pool, evening bonfire and music, and a morning of complete freedom before checkout. It's available year-round, which makes it the only Sea Hawk Adventures package you can book in July and August when the river is in monsoon flood and rafting is closed.

The camp sits 200 metres from the Ganga with 20–25 tents and cottages, all with attached washrooms, 24-hour electricity, charging points, and coolers. The natural swimming pool is fed by Laddu Waterfall, which drops from the forested hillside directly behind the camp — it's cold, clear, and approximately 4–5 feet deep, and it's where most guests spend their afternoon. The waterfall itself is 10 minutes on foot through a short forest path.

The camp environment has a specific quality that's difficult to describe and easy to experience: it's quiet in the way that rivers are quiet, which is not actually silent — there's constant water sound — but profoundly restful in a way that cities and even most hill stations are not. Guests regularly arrive with phones and laptops and find, within an hour of arrival, that they've put them away and aren't thinking about them.

Check-in is at 3:00 PM. The afternoon is unscheduled: river bank, pool, rope course, badminton, local shops (20 metres from the entrance), or the path to the waterfall. Evening snacks and tea at 6:30 PM, bonfire at 7:30 PM (November to February), dinner at 8:30 PM. Breakfast in the morning, then free time until 12:00 PM checkout.

If you decide on the day that you want to go rafting, the 16 km run can be added for ₹999 per person — subject to guide availability. Mention at booking for guaranteed scheduling on Day 2. This package works as a standalone weekend break and as the non-rafting alternative for travel companions who prefer the camp while the rest of the group is on the river.

Itinerary

1

Day 1 — Arrival, Exploration & Camp Evening

  • 1:00–3:00 PM: Check-in at the camp. Welcome drink on arrival. Tent or cottage pre-set with linen, cooler, and charging points.
  • 3:00–6:00 PM: Free time. The camp has multiple outdoor spaces — the natural waterfall pool (60 metres from the tents), the river bank with its wide pebble beach, badminton court, volleyball net, and rope courses. Local shops are within 20 metres of the camp entrance. The Laddu Waterfall path is a 10-minute walk through forest.
  • 6:30 PM: Evening snacks: chana masala, veg pakoda, papad, and masala chai. Served in the common area or riverside seating.
  • 7:30 PM: Bonfire (November to February) with light music. In summer, riverside seating with music replaces the bonfire. The setting — Himalayan ridgelines, river sound, clear sky — is the same regardless of season.
  • 8:30 PM: Dinner: veg or non-veg. Full menu with daal, rice, roti, sabji/chicken curry, salad, and a sweet dish.
  • Overnight in tent or cottage.

Day 2 — Morning at Camp & Checkout

  • 7:30–9:00 AM: Breakfast: puri bhaji, poha, aloo paratha, pickle, and masala chai.
  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Free time for a morning swim in the pool, a walk along the river bank, or a short riverside trek. Many guests simply sit by the Ganga with a book — it's that kind of place.
  • 12:00 PM: Checkout. Vehicle to Rishikesh town or Tapovan arranged on request (transport not included in package price).

Single-occupancy tents available on request (small supplement applies). Solo travellers are paired with others in common areas — the camp is a social space.
