About this adventure

The 3-day Rafting Expedition from Bhagwan to NIM Beach is Sea Hawk Adventures' flagship multi-day offering — 100 km of the Ganga's finest water, covered over three days with all camping, meals, and logistics handled by an experienced expedition team. This is not a day trip with an overnight add-on; it's a genuine river journey through sections of the Ganga that most visitors never see, with campsites that are accessible only by raft and days that feel genuinely remote despite being within a few hours of Rishikesh.

Day 1 begins before dawn in Tapovan and ends at Vyas Ghat, one of the most sacred and scenically dramatic riverside sites on this section of the Ganga. The Bhagwan–Vyas Ghat corridor is narrower and wilder than the Rishikesh rafting corridor — canyon walls close in, the current is faster, and the 30–35 km run contains a rapid sequence that arrives almost continuously. Lunch is on a sand beach midway; dinner is a hot cooked meal by the river with no other groups within earshot.

Day 2 is the expedition's most varied day. Rafting continues for 25–30 km through a mix of Grade II–III water and long, blue-water canyon sections. There's a midday break on a wide sand beach, an afternoon hike to a hidden waterfall, and — the highlight most participants talk about longest — a visit to Gartang Gali, an ancient cliffside trail of stone steps cut directly into the Himalayan rock face, originally used by traders on the route to Tibet. The views from this trail are extraordinary and almost entirely unknown to standard tourists.

Day 3 is the grand finale: 35–40 km covering the complete lower Rishikesh corridor with all its named rapids. If river levels allow, the Great Wall (Grade IV+) is on the schedule. Beyond it come Three Blind Mice, Crossfire, Roller Coaster, Golf Course, and Club House — every famous rapid in a single morning. The expedition ends at NIM Beach in the afternoon, with a vehicle back to Tapovan and a certificate of completion for every participant.

All accommodation is twin-sharing riverside tents at curated sites that the Sea Hawk team has used for over two decades. All meals from Day 1 lunch to Day 3 lunch are included — riverside packed lunches on white-sand beaches, hot multi-course dinners at camp, and warm breakfasts before each day's run. Both campsites have basic washroom facilities; sleeping bags and mats are provided.

This expedition is available on private-group basis (6–8 people). Pricing varies by season and group size — contact us for an exact quote. Personal travel insurance is mandatory.

Itinerary

1

Day 1 — Departure & 30–35 Km Rafting to Vyas Ghat

  • 5:00–6:00 AM: Departure from Tapovan office in non-AC vehicle. Light breakfast or snacks available on board.
  • ~9:00–10:00 AM: Arrive at Bhagwan put-in. Raft inflation, gear fitting, and comprehensive safety briefing covering Grade III–IV techniques, camp protocols, and the day's rapid sequence.
  • 10:30 AM: Rafts on water. The Bhagwan section is wild and largely unvisited — narrower canyon walls, faster current, and a string of Grade II–III rapids arrive almost continuously. Lunch on a sand beach midway through the run.
  • ~4:00–5:00 PM: Arrive at Vyas Ghat — a sacred and scenic riverside site rarely reached by day-trippers. Camp setup by the crew.
  • Evening: Hot dinner, bonfire, stargazing. With no road access and no other groups, the camp feels genuinely remote.
2

Day 2 — Rafting, Waterfall & Gartang Gali (25–30 Km)

  • Morning: Hot breakfast at camp, then back on the river for a 25–30 km day through a mix of Grade II–III water and calmer canyon sections.
  • Midday: Riverside lunch stop on a white-sand beach. This is often the most photogenic part of the expedition — the river widens, the canyon opens, and the light at midday on white sand is stunning.
  • Afternoon: Short hike to a hidden waterfall accessible from the river bank. Swim in the plunge pool if conditions permit.
  • Late Afternoon: Visit to Gartang Gali — an ancient cliffside trail of stone steps cut directly into a Himalayan rock face, originally used by traders on the Bhot route to Tibet. The views from the trail are extraordinary and rarely seen by tourists.
  • Evening: Camp at Mahadev Chatti. Hot dinner, bonfire, and barbecue by the river. Night sky completely unobstructed by light pollution.

Day 3 — 35–40 Km Rafting to NIM Beach

  • Morning: Early breakfast and camp breakdown. Final day on the water is the longest and most rapid-dense — 35–40 km covering the iconic lower Rishikesh corridor with all its named rapids.
  • On-water highlights: Great Wall (Grade IV+) if river level permits, followed by Three Blind Mice, Crossfire, Roller Coaster, Golf Course, and Club House — the full roster of Rishikesh's famous rapids in a single morning.
  • Afternoon: Pull out at NIM Beach. Light lunch served. Vehicle returns to Tapovan office for final drop-off.
  • End of expedition. Certificate of completion presented to all participants.
